Exercises
- 1. Most of the XML schema proposals rely on a namespace pointer that is a URL. In theory at least, the pointer should identify a vocabulary that describes the elements that belong to that namespace. URLs-as you will have noticed if you've spent more than a few hours on the Web-change, often with no notice and no forwarding mechanism. This would be unacceptable for a namespace and so a lot of the URLs are being converted into PURLs (persistent URLs). Go to a good Web search engine, find out what PURLs are, and see if you can register for one.
- 2. Join the XML-DEV mailing list. You might not have much to say, and the discussions may get pretty technical at times, but it can't do any harm to know that someone is listening who might act as a sanity check. Besides, provided you behave, contributions are always welcome-beware, though, this is not a list for beginners' questions.
